Smart Marketing, Don't Throw Your Money Away

Not long ago I joined a new Affiliate Marketing program. I wanted to add a little to my bottom line and found a program I knew would do it for me. While I'm not new to marketing I am new to this kind of program. Thinking I knew it all I didn't pay attention to the program details.

There are hundreds of marketing and advertising companies on the net that have no real value. They may make a promise and do exactly what they claim but the results are often none for the marketing newbie. It sounds exciting and promising to a newbie when they see an ad that tells them they can blast their promo page to millions of sites for a one time low price. Unfortunately the outcome is nearly non existent.

There are many other programs available to help the newbie grow his business. Often these programs promise to make them wealthy in a short period of time. Mentoring programs are on the top of the list. While there are a few that will actually produce very good results if the new marketer stays with the program long enough. Most simply do not provide quality results.

Although I looked into mentoring programs for my new Affiliate adventure and spent some money on a couple of them they proved to be pointless. Affiliate Marketing is not a Niche market and can not be worked as one.

Although I think I know it all it turned out I am a very slow learner. I've been getting what seems like a million emails all from companies I've spent money on and worse yet, one's I simply inquired about.

The email campaigns are ruthless. They are also ineffective because I'm not interested, but they send them anyway. So I religiously as if it is a duty quickly delete the emails and empty the trash.

As a know it all it can be hard to learn new tricks, often to my own demise. Such is the case this time. I diligently searched for new ways to market my new program while I completely over looked the program itself.

This new program had a terrific money making business plan. What I didn't see until I decided to read their material is they also had a terrific marketing plan. It's kind of like taking time to "stop to see the Roses" or "seeing the forest through the trees". I was blinded by my quest and the over whelming number of emails it produced.

Most companies who market on the internet through either Affiliate marketing or Network marketing have both a product of value and a marketing plan to help the new person grow their business. Some are of high value and offer a solid marketing plan while others offer plans that are nearly useless.

I've know this for a long time but foolishly looked for a better way, my own way, to market the program. Unfortunately to many new Affiliates do the same thing and often times waste more time and money than I did.

Online advertising and marketing holds many traps that new people can easily fall into if they are not taught correctly from the start. It's simply too easy to spend large amounts of cash thinking a fortune will be made.

My suggestion for those who want a home based business that is profitable is to go through the program you are affiliated with from front to back and top to bottom. Learn what they offer in marketing programs and apply what they teach.

The chances are pretty good if your involved with a successful company that their strategies have worked for others and will work for you as well.

A timely article, Steve. How many people sign up to stuff and never really get to know the program... How can you expect to become a success if you don't know your product and the resources that come with it? Read... read... read... and apply!
